The game is played by two combatants, each starting with 20 life points, obeys the same rules as a regular Magic game, and has one commander (or commanders with Partner ability) plus 99 (or 98 with Partners) cards in the starting library

In most contexts or formats, I would rather work slightly harder or meet some deckbuilding requirement to see a better per-card return
That makes this card one of very few Nidoking cards that isn't either Fighting, Darkness or Psychic and even when this card got reprinted in XY Evolutions, it became a Psychic-type to fit with the modern Poison-type Pokemon, making this original print even more special
