Green and red also have good ways to buff creatures, so you can play something like a Giant Growth on your creature before combat then double its power again
Legendary Creature - Human Soldier Copy (CTRL to add secondary) Counters Halana and Alena, Partners First strike (This creature deals combat damage before creatures without first strike.) Reach (This creature can block creatures with flying.) At the beginning of combat on your turn, put X +1/+1 counters on another target creature you control, where X is Halana and Alena's power
Universes Beyond can bring some great flavor to the game, but if the cost is alienating a loyal player base, then Wizards should perhaps rethink some of its strategy
