Green is also exceptional at creating an immense mana advantage, typically with cheap cards like mana dorks (Llanowar Elves, Badgermole Cub) and land-based ramp, which is pretty unique to green (Rampant Growth, Cultivate)
You can hose a good portion of Boros Energy, countering key pieces like Unstable Medallion, and shut down Ruby Storm's combo by halting its card draw spells (sadly, it's useless against Grapeshot)
