Far be it from me to assume whats going on in R&D, but I can absolutely see that Wizards are designing for certain demographics, and that they do so consistently

It lent a hand in leveling the playing field

While these are great entry points into Commanders, they are often built suboptimally and require a lot of tweaks to fix

Rienne is also no slouch when it comes to combat, so some commander damage kills might be possible, running cards like Rubblehulk to smash through some out-of-nowhere damage
