I cant see Mother of Runes or Tinker ever getting the Rancor treatment in a core setneither card is very interactive, and Mom especially leads to some complex board stalls

The card in itself isnt terrible, however, even in a strictly mutate deck, there are better 1-drop creatures to run over it, like Slippery Boggle
