While the TCG might be popular, the Pokmon card collectors world has an even bigger hold over the franchise
To my mind the mono coloured Stroke of Genius was just superior, the only decks that really wanted it were artifact ramp decks or infinite mana decks both of which usually didn't play white or need the life
They seem useful though, according to this Pokebeach article, the Thievul translation is "Skill Thief: If you have no cards in your hand, choose 1 of your opponent's Pokemon's attacks and use it as this attack."
