If you think outside the (Metal) box, this gimmick can be used to much advantage for certain Colorless type cards who can quickly grab Metal Energy from Dialga EX, come to the battlefront, and wreak havoc
Then you can +1 them to put three +1/+1 counters on a trampler or haster, like the token, or suggesting a haste and/or trampler brew
When Volo enters the battlefield, create Volo's Journal, a legendary colorless artifact token with hexproof and "Whenever you cast a creature spell, note one of its creature types that hasn't been noted for this artifact."
Other creatures that grant this effect are: Souls Attendant (opponents creatures too) Soul Warden (opponents creatures too) Suture Priest In addition to the two list above, Authority of the Consuls will give you 1 life every time a creature enters the battlefield under an opponents control
One guaranteed Secret Rare slot per box (24 packs) means supply is controlled enough to maintain price floors, but accessible enough that building a competitive deck with Secret Rare pieces is realistic through single buying
