He is also fairly broad unlike a lot of the more interesting cards for deck design and so while he is not a must have for a cube he is a good way to make things more complex and interesting

All our spells costing two less is going to win games, and making tokens that draws cards when they die is so good in this deck that we're essentially never going to be unhappy to see this card
We expect Tidus will be joined by Yuna, Wakka, Rikku, Auron, and the rest of the gang, with each gaining and sharing counters during games

A 2 mana investment when you can afford it, rather than constantly holding mana open, is well worth the price of entry
