However, in aggressive Mono-Red or Gruul shells that do not run counter-magic themselves, this symmetry rarely matters

It may not be quite as crazy as Jace, the Mind Sculptor was in Standard with Squadron Hawk, but it's still a great reason to consider including Brainstorm in your deck

This card can be rather slow, but if you can protect it or dump a bunch of counters on it quickly (Angelfire Ignition is one of my favorite cards for that), you have an aggressive nightmare for your opponents to deal with
