Being able to put 130 damage on board for 1 Fighting on a 1 point Pokmon is freakishly efficient regardless of the downside, and its big weakness of being a Stage 2 can be mitigated by "Rare Candy", meaning the only real issue with "Rampardos" is its Basic form not being searchable with "Pok Ball" due to being a Trainer Card

With cards like Team Galactics Wager and Absol SW around, Claydol was a welcome change to some of the more random elements that had made its way into games
Beginning with the Scarlet & Violet expansion, all cards past the Double Rare rarity are considered Secret Rares, adding to the excitement and intrigue in discovering and collecting them
Mix in some recursion through cards like Splendid Reclamation and Crucible of Worlds, and you can easily ramp up your mana to do it all again
