Still it has three abilities that are always highly relevant, and a fourth that can absolutely ruin certain decks, so it's not hard to see why EDH fans are slotting this one into the 99
Again, it's got its place, and it's excellent there, but these other two could literally just be shoved into any list and do a decent job of it
However, Beast Whisperer can still be a valuable inclusion in decks looking to maximize card draw from creature spells and could see play in the right strategy
The fact that it needs colorless mana can be useful in archetypes that require access to other colors, but are predominantly green, such as Titan Field and Golgari Yawgmoth, and its ability can give it space in Domain Zoo to amplify the clock
