Trading this away early gives you a bit of flood protection and even synergy with cards like Inti, Seneschal of the Sun or Currency Converter
There are cards that trigger other special abilities whenever you sacrifice a land (like making extra creatures to fill up your board) and cards with various Landfall abilities that do cool things whenever you play a land (like getting an extra combat step)
But that doesn't change the fact that many cards from unsets don't obey the rules of Magic, and may produce feel-bad moments for players who haven't signed up to play a party game with whacky rules
