This is only the first idea I've come up with, but truly any commander that can benefit from being copied should at least consider this card

Felisa, Fang of Silverquill is a competent alternative commander, focusing mainly on the +1/+1 counter aspect of the deck, and if creatures with +1/+1 counters die, you create 2/1 Inklings as a result

Aspiring Champion has a combat damage trigger that helps you tutor creatures onto the battlefield

What makes it better is the opportunity to be a mana rock or draw cards, too
