Moving Mountains Frame Color:Oak What looks like a flower

What looks like a flower is actually a paper-thin bract

almost exactly like a T-Rex's head — which is why it photographs the way it does

Morning swells on the San Diego coast are usually the cleanest of the day — overnight glass-off

partly washed-out wooden steps that the postcards never show you climbing back up

no real itinerary

Moving Mountains Frame Color:Oak What looks like a flowerDevon shot this through the passenger window somewhere in the Austrian Alps, the foreground a streak of green and yellow at speed while the peaks behind stay clear. Film handles the motion the way digital can't: what's close softens, what's far holds. The Eastern Alps are the longest stretch of the range Switzerland into Austria into Slovenia and most of the iconic limestone peaks are on this end.
