The seal is depicted in a reclining pose with its tail raised and flippers tucked beneath the body. Carved by Jose Adamie Tulugak of Inoucdjouac (Inukjuak), Quebec, dated 1977. The sculpture retains its original Canadian Eskimo Art Program certification tag, printed in English and French, reading "Hand Made by a Canadian Eskimo Artist"
